IDEAS is a project promoting the internationalisation of teacher training at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. It is funded by "Lehramt.International"External link – a scholarship programme of the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) as well as by the BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung).
By awarding generous scholarships, the programme aims at enhancing the motivation of German future teachers to study abroad. Simultaneously, it fosters the exchange of professional teachers in university education in the field of professional teacher training. Interculturality, transculturality as well as diversity and inclusion, therefore, constitute the main thematic foci. Moreover, our project aims at achieving a standardised and simplified process of recognizing and crediting academic performance abroad.
The ability to deal with diversity and its multifarious aspects needs to be seen as a crucial competence of teachers, now and in the future. This perspective is at the heart of the IDEAS project and implemented by offering a broad choice of teaching and learning opportunities in various cultural areas, accompanied by intercultural training programmes.
Our project cooperates with strategically chosen university partners de in four countries: Georgia, Canada, Russia, and Spain.
